heron
custom domains — bring your own and point it anywhere
articles
- 01
connect a domain you already own
bring a domain from godaddy, namecheap, cloudflare, anywhere — heron walks you through the dns and points it at any wymzy module.
4 steps·~2 min - 02
add the dns records at your registrar
this is the one step that has to happen at the place you bought the domain. heron tells you exactly what to add; you copy + paste it into your registrar's dns panel.
3 steps·~2 min - 03
verify and go live
once the dns records are in, come back to heron and let it check. if dns is right, the domain flips to active and you're live. if not, heron tells you exactly what's wrong.
3 steps·~2 min - 04
point the domain at a module
once the domain is active, attach it to magnolia, bluegill, or yellowjacket. switch the target whenever you want — no dns changes needed after the first setup.
3 steps·~2 min - 05
split one domain across multiple modules
you can run different parts of your business on different subdomains of the same domain. apex at your magnolia site, chat. at your bluegill chatbot, card. at your yellowjacket card.
3 steps·~2 min - 06
switch which module the domain serves
decide later that you want the domain on your bluegill chatbot instead of your magnolia site? change the target in heron — no registrar change, no dns wait.
3 steps·~2 min - 07
remove a domain from heron
when you no longer want a domain pointed at wymzy, remove it from heron. the dns records you added stay at your registrar — heron just stops claiming the domain.
3 steps·~2 min - 08
use a subdomain only — chat.acme.com without acme.com
you don't have to add the apex first. if you only want chat.acme.com on wymzy and the apex points elsewhere (an old website, a marketing landing page), add just the subdomain.
3 steps·~2 min - 09
troubleshoot a domain that won't verify
the most common stuck-state is dns. heron tells you what's wrong, but here's the order of things to check when you're starting from "why isn't this working."
