heron

add the dns records at your registrar

this is the one step that has to happen at the place you bought the domain. heron tells you exactly what to add; you copy + paste it into your registrar's dns panel.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

log into wherever you bought the domain

godaddy, namecheap, cloudflare, google domains — wherever you pay the renewal. find the dns settings for the domain.

  2. 2

add the a record and the cname

heron shows the exact values with a copy button next to each. don't retype them — copy and paste so a typo doesn't waste an hour.

  3. 3

    wait for propagation

most registrars take 5–60 minutes to propagate. cloudflare is usually under 5 minutes. some lazy ones (looking at you, godaddy) can take an hour.

    tip

if your domain has existing a or cname records pointing somewhere else (an old website, an email service), you'll need to update or remove them — two records can't both serve the same name.
