link a receipt to a job

for receipts tied to a specific job (materials for a customer's project, gas for a delivery), tagging the receipt to the crawdad job makes job profitability instantly visible.

    open the receipt

    click the receipt in sassafras to open the detail view.

    click "link to job"

    the link button is at the bottom of the receipt detail. it opens a job picker showing your active crawdad jobs. pick the right one.

    see job profitability in crawdad

    open the job in crawdad. the financials section now shows the receipt as part of the job's costs. if the job has been invoiced through pawpaw, you see the math automatically: revenue minus all linked receipts equals job profit.

    tip

    this is the only way to know if a specific job actually made money. for service businesses it's how you spot the customer who looks profitable but isn't (because of materials cost or driving distance).
