set up a buy-one-get-one (BOGO) promo

BOGO promos move slow-moving inventory or get customers to try something new. otter handles the math — the customer just types the code at checkout.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

create a new promo and pick "bogo"

from the otter promos list, click "new promo" and select the bogo type. give it a code customers will type — "BOGOJUNE" works.

  2. 2

pick which products or services qualify

BOGO can be any-item ("buy one of anything, get the cheapest item free") or scoped to a specific product or category ("buy any haircut, get a wash free"). pick from your magpie + mockingbird catalogs.

  3. 3

    set the dates and save

BOGO promos work best with an end date — urgency is what gets them used. set a start (today is fine) and an end (most operators run them 1–2 weeks).

    tip

BOGO works best when both items are similar in price. if one item is $200 and the other is $5, the customer sees "$5 off $205" rather than feeling like they got a deal — use $ off instead.
