open otter
click "otter" in the sidebar. you'll see your promos list — empty on first visit — with a "new promo" button.

click "new promo" and pick a type
choose % off ("15% off"), $ off ("$10 off any order"), or bogo ("buy one get one"). enter a memorable code like SPRING25 — that's what the customer types at checkout.

set the rules
minimum order, who can use it (any customer, or a specific segment), and start/end dates. save and it's live the moment the start date hits.
tipleave the end date open for evergreen codes ("NEWCUSTOMER"). set start AND end dates for flash sales — otter shows a countdown on the yaupon portal so customers know it's about to expire.
