what the milestone target vs completed date means

every milestone has two dates — the target you set when you planned the project, and the completed date that stamps when you actually finish. comparing them tells you the true pace of the build.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

set a target date when you create the milestone

the target is your plan — "finishing should be done by oct 15." optional, but planners use it.

  2. 2

click "mark done" when the phase finishes

gopher stamps the completed date with the moment you clicked. the customer's portal shows the phase has flipped.

  3. 3

review the variance on the next project

if frame complete kept landing 3 days late across the last 4 builds, you've got real pricing data — bake the buffer into the next quote, or run lean and own the speedup.

    tip

for milestones you can't predict ("customer signs off on stain color"), leave the target date blank. it'll just stamp a completed date when you flip it done.
