filter by money in vs money out

the direction filter on the ledger splits the list into income only, expenses only, or all. handy for spot-checking revenue at month-end or auditing a specific expense category.

3 steps~2 min
  1. 1

    open the transactions tab

the direction filter sits in the toolbar — defaults to "all".

  2. 2

    pick "in" or "out"

in shows only money you took in (revenue, refunds reversed, owner contributions). out shows only money you spent. the totals at the top recompute to match.

  3. 3

    stack with date filters

set from + to to scope to a specific period — last quarter's revenue, this month's expenses.

    tip

for a quick gut-check, set direction to "in" + date to "this month" — that's revenue this month. then "out" + same date — that's expenses. compare in your head; if it's close, you're not making money.
